    Blue Jays-Indians game rained out

The Toronto Blue Jays-Cleveland Indians game was postponed by rain Sunday and will be made up in a doubleheader on Monday.

Sunday’s scheduled starters, Toronto’s A.J. Burnett and Cleveland’s Fausto Carmona, are scheduled to pitch in the first game beginning at 4:05 p.m. Indians left-hander Cliff Lee, off to an impressive start this season, will face Shaun Marcum in the nightcap.

Sizemore’s two homers power Indians’ rout

Grady Sizemore gave Indians fans a couple of extra mementoes in addition to those they received at the turnstiles.

With all fans taking home a Sizemore souvenir blanket, Cleveland’s center fielder sent two baseballs into the seats, too. He homered twice and drove in five runs to support Aaron Laffey’s sharp pitching in a 12-0 win over Toronto on Saturday night that sent the Blue Jays to their fourth straight loss.

Grady Sizemore homered twice and drove in five runs, Aaron Laffey pitched seven sharp innings and the Cleveland Indians routed Toronto 12-0 Saturday night to hand the Blue Jays their fourth straight loss.

Sizemore had three hits, including a leadoff homer to start a six-run first inning against Dustin McGowan (2-3). Sizemore added a three-run shot in the fifth off Jason Frasor to make it 12-0. Both came on 3-2 pitches and gave Sizemore his second career multihomer game.

    Sabathia pitches Tribe past Jays

Casey Blake delivered again in the clutch for the Cleveland Indians, this time breaking up a duel between Cy Young Award winners.

Blake hit a go-ahead, two-run double in a six-run seventh inning to help C.C. Sabathia and the Indians defeat Roy Halladay and the Toronto Blue Jays 6-1 on Friday night.

“We’ve been struggling to score for C.C. and to be able to do it feels good,” said Blake, a .228 career hitter with runners in scoring position who is batting .

Casey Blake and Ben Francisco hit two-run doubles in a six-run seventh inning to help C.C. Sabathia and the Cleveland Indians defeat Roy Halladay and the Toronto Blue Jays 6-1 in a duel of Cy Young Award winners on Friday night.

Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells jammed his left wrist while making a diving catch and left in the sixth inning as Toronto lost for the 13th time in its last 14 games in Cleveland.

Sabathia (2-5) struck out nine over seven innings.

Chin music: Slumps or downward spirals?

I love the movie “Old School” as much as anyone else, but the White Sox clubhouse apparently has turned into Frank the Tank’s bedroom.

    Yankees 6, Indians 3

Jason Giambi and the sluggish New York Yankees suddenly turned sluggerish.

The Yankees played home run derby Thursday, with Giambi, Johnny Damon, Robinson Cano and Wilson Betemit connecting in a 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians that prevented a three-game sweep.

“There were big hits up and down the lineup,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.

News analysis: Hafner can’t break out of slump

Most great hitters encounter a slump at some point during the season. Others have a certain month of the season that for some reason or another, they just don’t hit well in.

Jason Giambi and the sluggish New York Yankees suddenly turned sluggerish.

The Yankees played home run derby Thursday, with Giambi, Johnny Damon, Robinson Cano and Wilson Betemit connecting in a 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Mike Mussina (5-3) won his fourth straight start and earned his 255th career victory, holding on for five innings. Joba Chamberlain pitched an easy eighth and Mariano Rivera closed for his ninth save.

    Indians 3, Yankees 0

Cliff Lee know he probably won’t win all of his starts this season. That doesn’t mean he isn’t going to try.

Lee threw seven sharp innings Wednesday night to beat Chien-Ming Wang in a matchup of unbeaten starters, leading the Cleveland Indians to a 3-0 victory over the New York Yankees.

“I’ve got to focus on this next outing and if I do that and continue to do that things should go the way they have gone,” Lee said.
